Moving the sap from the tree to the sugar shack
This is a tree with three taps, connected to the 5/16" line. You can possibly see other lines running down the hill in the background.
Here you can see how the individual 5/16 " lines are connected to the main line. A six-way manifold has six hose barbs on it for up to six lines; any barbs not needed are sealed with a cap.
The mainlines enter the sugar shack, as shown at the far left side of this picture. The sap is pumped through an ultraviolet purification system and then through a filter, after which it is piped to a storage tank.
We have three 1500-gallon storage tanks outside the back of the sugar shack that are used for sap storage.
