With the development of CPS (Contactless Power System), it is applied in AGV logistics transportation system, which can extremely improve defects of AGV powered by battery. For example, AGV is usually equipped with traditional “high rate Ni-Cd battery” so as to meet its demands of rapid charging and larger current discharging, however, it is troublesome to use and maintain due to memory effect of “Ni-Cd battery”. Meanwhile, because Ni for “Ni-Cd battery” will result in pollution, it doesn’t satisfy environment protection requirement. Furthermore, the number of charging stations increases, which also increases the total construction cost of AGV transportation system. The contactless power supply system can provide driving power and control power to AGV without batteries. It also has the following advantages:
Environment friendly: At the first beginning stage of project construction, contactless power supply technology is completed. During operation, it doesn’t need further investment and doesn’t need to face problems like battery recycling, energy saving and exhaust reducing either.
Maintenance free: Contactless power supply gets the power through induction (like transformer), which means that there is no physical abrasion and the system is maintenance free.
Energy saving: The energy from contactless power supply is direct utilization, whose efficiency is about 70-75% and battery’s efficiency is about 60-65%. It will dramatically reduce the cost for customers in the long run production process. Comparing with AGV powered by batteries, this technology will make vehicle body compacted, reduce its own weight and decrease the energy demand.
MTD cooperated with Germany SEW Company and produced AGV with contactless power supply. This system has applied in SEW Suzhou factory to transport between assembly line and spray painting-coating workshop in the production of reducer.
